Mark Wilson from a December 1 review:
But once removed [from the box], I can’t distinguish this $1,800 laptop from any random PC on a table at Best Buy. HP’s premium laptop, one that’s been oooh’d and ahhh’d ad nauseam, could have been a $600 budget system.
One inch thick, lacking an optical drive, and 5.2 pounds of absolute MacBook ripoff. Just look at the hinge and how that keyboard is recessed. I guess the distinguishing touch is the way the trackpad bulges into the recession like that drunk family member no one invited to Christmas.
The kicker: 1 hour and 20 minutes of battery life in a standard web browsing test with WiFi on and the display at 3/4 brightness. This about sums it up:
HP is the new Dell. Disregarding their impressive TouchSmart desktops, HP has built the quintessential drab PC laptop and labeled it as “designer.”
“Envy” indeed.
Is it the end or beginning of an era?
Palm goes out not with a bang, but in HP’s grab for IP. Rest in peace Palm. I was rooting for you.
“Dude…open up, it’s me. I’m pretty sure I lost my keys.”
